Trip Report 18 and 19 January 2014

After a week off, we headed back to the world famous Pulau Hantu located a short boat ride from Singapore’s Republic of Singapore Yacht Club.

Thankfully the visibility is slowing improving after a few weeks of less than one metre. This weekend we had at least 2-3 metres. The water was still a little bit green, but not the thick green pea soup that we had been experiencing of late.

We saw loads of nudis, one seahorse plus all the countless local small fish around.  I always enjoy poking the feather duster worms and watching them disappear and come back just as quickly.  Nemo and a baby cuttlefish were also spotted.

GS-Diving PADI Instructor, Phil completed the final two open water dives with Simran and Arianne for their PADI Advanced Open Water Certification.  These two girls missed a trip last year due to illness. Congratulations girls on completing your course!

I was conducting PADI Open Water Diver Course with three people.  Both the guys did very well, but unfortunately the lady did not do so well. I have recommended she does the full course again at Tioman where she will be able to see better and be able to get through all the skills confidently. Congratulations to Solam and Linden!

Georgie, GS-Diving’s PADI Dive Master was looking after various customers over the weekend including one new diver who completed her PADI Open Water Course only a few weeks ago. I guess Joyce loves Hantu!

With everyone back at work and with scuba diving now in full swing, I look forward to the next few months at Hantu, with of course, the occasional trip elsewhere.  I will be in the Philippines at the end of January and again in mid March. Awesomeness, I say.

Glenda’s tip – Watch where you are going when you are descending. Sea urchin spikes hurt and they will continue to hurt for many weeks to come.
