11 to 12 June Trip Report 2016 (Seaborne)

This trip was really fun for me.

I had 4 PADI Rescue Divers on board. I’ve always loved teaching the PADI Rescue Course. It is indeed a challenging course for the students but at the end of the day, I believe they enjoyed it as well. Even though the course is meant to be tough, I find it important to incorporate some fun scenarios. This way, my students can actually remember the scenarios for a longer period of time.

Unfortunately, due to the weather, one of my students got terribly seasick and decided to discontinue to course. We were greeted by heavy rain and lightning after our first dive and hence decided to wait the storm out back at the marina. Check out these sleeping students, PADI Divemaster and Seaborne Captain.

After the storm passed, the training dives continued with divers jumping into the water pretending to drown as Vini and Thiago flustered to get their gear ready to save the divers. At one point, Vini attempted to throw a life buoy out to the diver but ended up hitting the boat instead.

GS-Diving PADI Instructor Katherine continued the day with her students with the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive, Navigation Dive and ended the day with an amazing night dive.

To end the night, my colleagues and my divers celebrated my birthday in advance. As a vegan, I love cake. I don’t need a reason for cake so . . . GIVE ME ALL THE CAKE!

I also learned the Brazilian way to cut a cake.

On the second day, with Doris resting in the room, Matthew continued with his PADI Rescue Course while Vini and Thiago went fun diving with Bernard. He was lucky as the conditions were much calmer than the day before.

All 3 of them passed their rescue exams with flying colours and are now proud PADI Rescue Divers. Congratulations!

Katherine also certified 3 PADI Advanced Open Water Divers. Congratulations!

Lastly, thank you to GS-Diving PADI DiveMaster Gary Lim for your assistance on the courses and to GS-Diving PADI DiveMaster Bernard for guiding our leisure divers.

Happy Divers!
