Trip Report 12-13 November

Hantu – Singapore’s most famous dive site during the South China Sea off season.

GS-DIVING headed to a local island of Singapore called Pulau Hantu on Saturday and Sunday morning  with 4 PADI Open Water Students and some leisure divers.

Diving during low tide and after a full moon was a bit challenging to say the least.  The viz was about one metre (three at best during parts of the dive sites) and the current was a tad strong.  All this made the skills and diving a little difficult for my students, but we soldiered on and got through it.  Ideally we would have chosen better days to go diving but we were limited by the available time of the students and their work commitments.

Trey, Ashley, Vernon, Kristina, Ben, Sophie, Nick, Viktor, Jon, JB and Glenn a Lieutenant in the Royal Australian Navy from the HMAS Sirius (currently berthed in Singapore) joined for some fun dives.  To view the details of Glenn’s vessel please click here –  http://www.navy.gov.au/HMAS_Sirius

Sophie was very happy to see her favorite marine life – a cute small cuttle fish.

I found a yellow and black seahorse and a 30cm long pipe fish.  My students enjoyed seeing these although as you could imagine, much chaos occurred when all 5 of us were looking at these small critters.  Many nudis and crabs were spotted also.

Congratulations to Trey, Ashley, Vernon and Kristina on completing your PADI Open Water Courses.

Thank you to Sophie for the use of your photos.
