Trip Report 11 and 12 October 2014

Another great weekend of local diving in Singapore’s backyard, with turtles, cuttlefish and loads of nudi’s. We dived Saturday afternoon and then on Sunday, we dived both in the morning and in the afternoon.

I decided that the best places at Hantu over the weekend were the dive sites located at The Outer Reef and The Northern Jetty.  The visibility was great. It was up to 6 metres and no current.

Jenny was completing her SDI Open Water Course over the weekend.  GS-Diving Instructor Julius completed open water dives 1 and 2 on Saturday and I did open water dives 3 and 4 on Sunday.  I was not diving on Saturday because I was taking my Powered Pleasure Craft Driving Licence (PPCDL) test. Yes, I passed and now I am able to drive a boat!

On Sunday, we dived The Northern Jetty due to the tidal movement and it was the only safe place.  The visibility was amazing, but there were also a lot of particles.  I could see the surface from 10 metres at the bottom of all of the pillars looking up vertically, but could only see about 4 metres in front horizontally.  But is was still good diving and Jenny did well. I showed her the camouflaged file fish, the flat worms and even a school of barracuda. Congratulations to Jenny on your SDI Open Water certification.

All the leisure divers enjoyed the dive sites, although there was not much to see on the second dive for some reason.
