I was available to do the local dives this weekend. With 4 trips and 40 divers including 9 students, it was exhausting. I certified 3 PADI Advanced Open Water Divers and 4 PADI Open Water Divers. 2 of the PADI Open Water Diver students were having a lot of issues and they decided not to continue.
Saturday was nice good weather and good visibility of about 4-5 metres.
Sunday, well Sunday was not so good. On my way to Republic of Singapore Yacht Club (RSYC), I could see the dark clouds and by the time we reached Hantu, it was really heavy rain. The visibility was close to 1 metre on the first dive. Captain Mel had to keep the boat running because the wind was so strong the anchor would not have held. We were forced to dive the safest place between The Reef and The Breakwall.
We surfaced after the first dive and it was still raining heavily. Thankfully it finally stopped during our surface interval and the second dive was ok. We even managed to see one of the resident turtles.
Cheers, Gary Savins
